Sharafat was posted to the post of AE Civil. He was inducted into the BJP by Shazia Ilmi. About three dozen people belonging to the minority class joined the BJP with Sharafat. Party's state president Manoj Tiwari was also supposed to attend the event, but he did not reach the program at the last moment.

The BJP has maintained silence over allegations of corruption that have been forcibly retired and now it is included in the party. Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari is refraining from talking about the whole matter. An attempt was also made to talk to Shazia Ilmi , but Ilmi did not respond to phone calls and text messages. Jaiprakash, the party's state vice president and chairman of the standing committee in the municipal corporation, denied information in this regard and said that if it is so, he will talk to the party leadership.
