Maharashtra: 6 mistakes that caused BJP to backtrack
Until Tuesday morning, there was speculation that the BJP would prove a majority on the floor of the assembly on Wednesday. But within a few hours, the game changed and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who supported the BJP, resigned from the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
About an hour after this, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a press conference and made it clear that he is ready to sit in the opposition.
Soon after this, Fadnavis reached the Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
The moment-changing developments in Maharashtra's politics had at least proved that anything can happen at any time in politics. But the question arises that where was the last lapse from the BJP which formed the government in Goa, Manipur and Haryana.
Senior journalist Pradeep Singh told BBC correspondent Mansi Dash that this is the BJP's biggest mistake strategically.
